The Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy
Training Course(R) was introduced,
in 2006 by Sarajane
Williams, to train harpists to provide VAHT, and to train
administrators/medical supervisors to supervise VAHT practitioners
(VAHTPs).
EligibilityRequirements:
This intensive course is being
offered to harpist-graduates of therapeutic music training programs,
licensed health care professionals (i.e. nurses, doctors,
chiropractors, psychologists, music therapists), supervised clinical
harpists and health care administrators who will supervise VAHTPs.
Applicants for the Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy
(VAHT) Training Course
must demonstrate maturity and be capable of dealing with any
psychological material that could be evoked from a VAHT session. The
applicant must also be capable of moving and setting up equipment (i.e.
sound pads, harps and amplifiers).
A harpist who do not have a professional license
or graduate
certificate from a therapeutic music program (supervised clinical
harpist), may apply if a letter of recommendation from his/her current
hospital supervisor and/or the person who will supervising him/her to
perform VAHT in a clinical setting is provided. The recommendation from
the current supervisor should include information about the:
a. length
of employment/ experience at that facility (minimum 2
years
previous therapeutic harp experience required)
b.
maturity, judgment, professional demeanor, and rapport with
patients
and staff
c.
support of your VAHT training and intent to assist the harpist
with
the implementation of VAHT in a supervised capacity at
that
institution
d.
contact information, for verification and follow-up on any
additional
questions
Course
Objectives:
* To become familiar with the vibrational medicine
paradigm
* To develop a working, professional
knowledge base and
vocabulary
for (VAHT)
* To become familiar with the use of
VAHT
equipment
* To experience the “hands
on” implementation of
VAHT, and to gain
experiential
insight in preparation for offering or
supervising VAHT.
Preparatory Studies:
Good Vibrations: Principles of Vibroacoustic Harp
Therapy (book) and Therapeutic Harp: ancient legacy, sound science,
clinical applications (3-DVD set) by Sarajane Williams.
Planning:
The VAHT Training Course is usually held in Pennsylvania
during a 3-day weekend. The VAHT Training Course graduate receives a
certificate indicating that he/she has received 15 hours of supervised
practicum, upon completion of the course. This course meets CEU
requirements for the majority o f Therapeutic Musician training
programs (please check with your training program).
